APS6 IT Security Officer


Job Description

The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare is looking for an enthusiastic APS6 IT Security Officer to work in a small IT Security team. The IT Security Unit (ITSU) ensures that the AIHW's ICT services enable the AIHW to securely execute its mission. It has a broad security remit covering all elements of the ACSC cyber security principles (Govern, Protect, Detect and Respond). ITSU manage IT security risk, ensure required security controls are implemented and effective and monitor for security alerts and vulnerabilities.

The key duties of the position include
Based on skills and experience, and under general direction, you will:
• perform or facilitate security assessments, security audits and risk assessments
• work with the broader ICT Group to continuously improve security controls in line with the essential 8, the Information Security Manual (ISM) and cyber security best practice
• work with project teams to ensure security requirements are built into new projects
• perform general security operations, including alert monitoring, vulnerability management and investigating security incidents
• contribute to an on-going cyber security awareness program
• support the EL2, IT Security in the overall governance/management of cyber security within the Institute.
