The purpose of the Agency is to transform and grow a globally respected Australian space industry that lifts the broader economy, inspires and improves the lives of Australians – underpinned by strong international and national engagement.
The 10 year plan for the Australian space industry is outlined in the Advancing Space: Australian Civil Space Strategy which outlines four pillars and the seven key priority areas which sets a path to triple size of space economy and create another 20,000 jobs in Australia.
Responsibilities of the Agency include providing national policy and strategic advice on the civil space sector; coordinating Australia’s domestic space sector activities; leading international space engagement; supporting the growth of Australia’s space industry and the use of space across the broader economy including the Moon to Mars initiative (M2M); administering space activities legislation and delivering on our international obligations; and inspiring the Australia community and the next generation of space entrepreneurs.

Our ideal candidate
The Assistant Manager – Enterprise Risk will be an integral part of the Agency’s Operations and Communication team whose primary role is to lead the Agency’s audit, assurance and risk management processes. As part of the leadership of the team, will also support program activity. The section also has responsibility for meeting parliamentary requirements, governance, finance, general operations, program management, communications and people and culture.
This roles focuses on developing and growing risk management frameworks and on the primary business risk functions of the Agency.

What you will do
Key responsibilities of the Enterprise Risk role will involve working with others to support the strategic direction and required outcomes of the Operations and Communication team’s work which may include
Leading the delivery of Agency’s enterprise risk management frameworks development of risk manuals and related materials. Developing and implementing enterprise risk management tools, practices, and policies to analyse and report enterprise risks and to manage risks according to the enterprise risk management framework. Ensuring the organisation's risk management policies and strategies are in compliance with applicable standards and regulations and strategic plans of the Agency. Conducting policy and compliance audits, which will include liaising with internal and external stakeholders. Identifying and managing project and program risks, including regular reporting to management. Supporting stakeholder engagement, including with state and federal government and industry and technical experts as required.
While day-to-day work is anchored in the individual teams, the Agency operates in a dynamic environment, and it is expected that the successful candidate will flexibly support work across all five teams; Regulation and International Obligations, National and International Engagement, Strategy and Policy, Operations and Communications and the Program and Capability teams.
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, applicants must be Australian Citizens.
These positions require a minimum baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. The Agency may determine that a higher classification is required and will organise this if required.
This recruitment process is being used to fill an ongoing Executive Level 1 position. A merit pool may be established to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing Executive Level 1 vacancies should they become available within 12 months form the date advertised.
