Business & Retail Credit Risk Advisor

  • Provide specialist support and advice to business units in the consideration of lending applications across the Agribusiness and Commercial sectors
  • Secondment Opportunity until December 2021, flexible on location. Role can be done from home/remotely

The Role

As the Business & Credit Risk Advisor, you will provide specialist support and advice to business units in the consideration of lending applications across the Agribusiness and Commercial sectors. The role is also responsible for the joint decision of credits outside the sole Delegated Authority of bankers and First Line credit staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that business written is within the agreed risk appetite tolerances of the Bank
  • Approve specific loans within Delegated Credit Authority, including approval of (relevant) exceptions to Credit Risk Policy where sufficient mitigators exist to warrant lending outside of agreed parameters
  • Assist the Manager, Business and Retail Credit with the provision of insightful and forward-looking analysis of the portfolio and trends
  • Identify deteriorating credits and provide strategic direction as to ways to minimise risk/potential loss including transfer to the Business Customer Support team where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain a requisite level of knowledge on key regional industries/geographic issues and emerging trends
  • Provide advice and guidance to Bankers, Credit Advisors and Associates
  • Provide effective second line challenge and review support to the first line risk functions

Skills & Experience

  • A detailed understanding of lending parameters including an ability to assess fundamental inherent risks in a wide range of relevant industries
  • The exercise of a substantial Delegated Credit Authority
  • Completion of Omega financial analysis training (or equivalent)
  • Strong conflict management and negotiation skills
  • Tertiary qualification in a finance related discipline is highly desirable but not mandatory
