Summary:

HCF are looking to attract an outstanding candidate to join as a trusted Business Risk Advisor (BRA). As a BRA you will be an integral member of the Risk team who will deliver risk consulting solutions across HCF including but not limited to operational, compliance, regulatory and conduct risk. You will be responsible for building relationships at the Senior Leadership level as well as assisting in the growth and development of risk maturity across HCF.

About the Role

  • As a Business Risk Advisor you will provide advice and support on all risk matters to Senior Leaders and their teams across the organisation. You will assist in:
  • Ensuring that divisional and business unit risk management practises are aligned to HCF’s risk management framework, strategy, appetite and regulatory obligations; and
  • Building a risk awareness culture and playing a key role in supporting the Head of Risk Services, Head of Enterprise Risk and the Chief Risk Officer in the embedment and continuous improvement of HCF’s Risk Management Framework.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk expertise across HCF to support the identification, assessment and monitoring of risk and control activities;
  • Partner with the business to embed the RMF and associated policies and procedures including:
  • Ensuring risk registers are regularly reviewed and updated by management
  • Ensuring that risk assessments on significant business opportunities and changes are being conducted by relevant staff
  • Helping develop relevant training for staff
  • Providing sufficient support to risk owners to assist them to define and manage their risks
  • Support the proactive and effective monitoring, management and reporting of current and emerging risks
  • Working with the risk owners to establish and implement the annual controls assurance plan that includes identifying whether the design and execution of controls is adequate and effective in managing the risks
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the risk team to build a strong risk culture, risk awareness and ownership of risk throughout HCF
  • Support embedding risk awareness across HCF through implementation of processes, procedures, tools and systems to identify, assess and monitor risk
  • Support the Head of Risk Services and Head of Enterprise Risk in providing divisional and enterprise-wide risk insights and reporting to the Chief Risk Officer
  • Provide incident management oversight and support to the business to identify, report and resolve incidents including any regulatory breaches

Experience, skills and qualifications

  • 3+ years of risk management, advisory or consulting experience preferably with an APRA regulated entity
  • Good understanding of risk management frameworks, concepts and tools
  • Experience in risk standards, guidelines and practices particularly CPS220 - Risk Management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong report writing and presentation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to prioritise effectively
  • Proven ability to work as a team member, with a strong stakeholder consultation and management focus
  • Proactive, flexible and collaborative approach - ability to adapt to changing business needs and open to new ways of doing things.
  • Acts with professionalism and integrity Tertiary qualifications in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related fields desired
