One opportunity we are currently seeking interest for is a permanenet full time clinical coding audtior role based in have worked in a busy tertiary hospital across a complex casemix Brisbane, Queensland. Our client is a busy private hospital where the clinical coding casemix is complex. The suitable applicant for this opportunity will have 5+ years of Clinical Coding and atleast 2+ years in auditing experience and will

The key responsibilities of the coding auditor role are:

  • Manage the administration of remote health fund audits, including review of ICD-10-AM/ACHI code, COF and AR-DRG assignment, as well as the identification and submission of supporting documentation for the purposes of claim validation, ensuring facility responses are provided within organisational and contractual timeframes
  • Manage the administration of onsite health fund AR-DRG audits, including pre-auditing of samples, sign-off of findings, post-audit processing, delivery of feedback sessions and implementation of quality improvement initiatives
  • Act as the principal point of contact for all Health Information Services related internal billing queries
  • Track and report on health fund audit activity, identifying trends/areas of financial risk and recommending appropriate solutions
  • Develop, implement and coordinate an internal clinical coding audit program, identifying non-compliance with Australian Coding Standards/National and State coding advice, over/under coding and documentation deficiencies with the aim of optimising AR-DRG allocation to accurately reflect patient complexity
  • Liaise with the Regional Coding Auditor and Educator to ensure ongoing alignment with organisational objectives


About the ideal candidate:

  • HIMAA Intermediate/Advanced Clinical Coding Course
  • Up to date extensive knowledge with at least 5 years Clinical Coding knowledge and recent experience using ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS at a medium to large acute hospital
  • Keen interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to prioritise and time manage
  • Problem solving ability
  • Keen interest and understanding of the commercial implications of coded data
