Lead a high performing team that maintains the Bank Credit Risk Policies and supporting frameworks
As the Credit Risk Policy Manager you will manage the team that maintains the Bank Credit Risk Policies and supporting frameworks. You will oversight and challenge the alignment of lending procedures and practices to policy requirements and risk appetite and provide expert advice and insights into credit policy settings, that incorporates monitoring and assessment of business, industry, economic and regulatory trends and requirements.

What you’ll do
Lead the Credit Risk Policy team, which covers retail lending and business lending.
Manage the Credit Risk Policies (and associated frameworks and documents) to ensure they are aligned with risk appetite, supportive of sustainable business growth and meet regulatory & legal requirements.
Manage the Authorities frameworks to ensure they are appropriately aligned to policies and risk appetite.
Provide guidance to lending staff within Bank including recommending staff development and courses to be undertaken to meet lending product & portfolio specific accreditation requirements. Influence improvements in the management of lending portfolio and product activities though enhanced training and communication.
Collaborate with business partners to develop risk management strategies and associated changes to credit policies, to support sustainable business growth.
Review and challenge the various lending procedures, guidance information and practices to ensure they are appropriate and consistent with the credit policy and risk appetite.
Proactively identify potential impacts to sustainable business growth and recommend appropriate actions.
Provide SME advice, oversight and challenge around the key change programs impacting lending portfolios and products.
Improve capabilities across the function and encourage an environment where working practices are reviewed and refined on a regular basis. Drive and support change initiatives across the function leading to improved and more collaborative working practices.
What you need to bring
Tertiary qualification in a finance related discipline is highly desired.
Leadership experience in either a credit policy risk role or commercial and consumer lending area.
Experience in a bank that has been accredited as an advanced bank would be an advantage.
Completion of appropriate financial and credit analysis training.
A detailed understanding of lending parameters including an ability to assess fundamental inherent risks in a wide range of relevant industries.
Strong conflict management and negotiation skills.
Ability to assess the implications of the findings from research and analysis with respect to the current and future risk profiles of the function.
Ability to provide analysis that is forward looking and insightful with objective commentary and critical analysis while linking discussion to risk appetite, where appropriate.
Develop and maintain requisite level of knowledge on key regional industries/geographic issues, emerging trends and market opportunities.
Ability to analyse historical information and uncover trends and causes to enable emerging risks to be highlighted and inform decision making.
