Cyber Risk and Resilience is the capability within eSolutions that ensures effective risk and security management of Monash information systems, infrastructure and networks. Our 30+ strong team provides a broad range of cyber services across the University and we work closely with the delivery domains and technical teams within eSolutions and the University’s Internal Audit, Data Protection and Privacy and Legal Counsel.

The Opportunity

The role of the Cyber Security Operations Manager oversees a team of 10+ covering both project delivery and operations, and is responsible for cyber security services such as threat prevention, threat detection, incident response, threat intelligence, vulnerability management and technical assurance. The position is newly created to support the University’s cyber security strategy and will be responsible for considerable strategic planning and implementation for the future of cyber operations.

Reporting into the Assistant Chief Information Security Officer, the Cyber Security Operations Manager is responsible for managing the cybersecurity operations team, providing oversight, guidance and mentorship to a team of security engineers, specialists and analysts, ensuring the continuous improvement of the University’s cyber security tools, processes and technologies.

As the successful candidate you will be responsible for:

  • Driving the identification, implementation and forward thinking of control techniques, technologies and cyber security operations
  • Managing cyber security operations executive reporting and metrics, including gathering and analysing relevant data from internal and external sources
  • Managing and maintaining cyber security incident response procedures such as: supervising and/or conducting incident response training, leading and assisting with incident response activities and enhancing and uplifting reporting capabilities
  • Building and maintaining relationships with third party specialist suppliers, ensuring contracted services are delivered to agreed standards, timelines and costs

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications and knowledge:

  • Postgraduate qualifications or other relevant education/training
  • ITIL Practitioner certification or above
  • GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH), CISSP, CISM or similar Cyber Security operations industry certifications
  • Knowledge of internal and external IT audit practices, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SANS Incident Response guidelines and ISO 27001:2013
  • Demonstrated extensive and broad experience in leading, motivating and developing a team of Cyber security specialists to implement innovative processes, controls and service improvements
