This is a 3-Years Fixed Term Contract!

Reporting to the Director Business Intelligence and Analytics, this role will drive key data management activities that will improve data quality and build organisational capability in the management of data and information.

Position Overview
Objective: Build organisational capability in the management of data and information across the data Lifecycle and improve the Australia Council’s business processes and quality of data as per best practice.
Key Accountabilities:
  • Oversee the development and delivery of the Australia Council’s data governance program and initiatives to maximise the value of data and ensure alignment to the data strategy
  • Develop and implement a data governance framework to enhance the Council’s business decisions and foster accountability in maintaining data assets
  • Design data governance standards, policies and procedures that will increase data governance maturity
  • Engage with stakeholders to resolve data integrity and quality issues and ensure adherence to data governance standards, policies, and procedures
  • Build and maintain an audit of corporate data assets, including those held in Council’s business systems
  • Formalise the implementation of data stewardship activities and train business owners to effectively deliver on data governance functions in their data domain
  • Assess and identify risks and ensure they are mitigated and accounted for within the data governance program
  • Create and enforce data quality metrics within and outside the data warehouse
  • Demonstrate the application of the Australia Council’s values in all aspects of your work
  • Participate effectively in the ongoing processes of the Australia Council’s team meetings and the organisation’s performance management process
  • Demonstrate ongoing commitment to work health and safety policies and procedures
  • Undertake other duties and projects reasonably requested by your direct supervisor or senior management

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Selection Criteria:
  • Relevant data management and governance experience within an organisation with complex and large volumes of data
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in data governance, master data management, data security and data quality
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing data governance policies, processes, and practices
  • Highly developed project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to support end-to-end data management and the implementation of data governance controls
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills with proven capability to relate data concepts and technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to provide insights from business data
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field of study
  • Experience working within a professional services environment or within an analytical function
