The opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a Data Governance Optimization Advisor, permanent full time role within Advanced Analystics and Insights division. The primary purpose of the role is to work with data creators and users across the cluster to advice on best practice configuration, development and use of data. The role also identifies opportunities to create synergies between areas using shared data or platforms and remove duplication.

Your role will include

• Champion and train colleagues in how to get the most from data, ensuring data is efficiently and effectively governed and managed through the lifecycle (as data is captured, processed, stored and disposed of.
• Provide advice and guidance to Spoke teams with data quality mechanisms and control processes that they can implement in their teams at key data transformation points.
• Partner with spoke teams to automate metadata management during data ingestion and define data quality processes needed to monitor and improve integrity of data
• Provide guidance, in conjunction with the data architects, on logical and physical data models in spoke environments or instances
• In conjunction with data architects and spoke data stewards, capture metadata information related to key data repositories and update the enterprise architecture and data governance platforms. Be the point of contact to leverage this information for data optimisation opportunities.
• Provide advice on data schema and integration of platforms across spoke teams, helping with alignment to data architecture, data governance and management principles.
• Advise on data access controls as guardrails to mitigate risks associated with data democratisation
• Ensure new data ingestion or development into cluster-wide platforms meet data governance standards, ethics and have identified value
• Create awareness of data asset register across the cluster and partner with data governance team to catalogue all data across the cluster
• Advise on best practice to manage data across the cluster and between platforms in conjunction with data architects
• Monitor data usage to assist teams, share best practice trends in data use, and provide insight into how and where teams can use data to help in day-to-day decision-making.
• Advise on trends and innovation in applying data governance and management in modern cloud / lake architectures. E.g., Machine learning techniques in augmented data catalogs, automated data classification, data mesh concepts and data observability.

About you

To be successful in the role you will 

• Advanced degree in the above-mentioned discipline, or equivalent expertise/experience in data analytics
• Experience working with complex cloud-based data environments, applying data governance and management techniques and tools
• Knowledge of data architecture and modelling and experience in applying to data development
• Experience of building data layers and ingestion pipelines into new data environments, embedding good practice data governance and management
• Knowledge and some practical experience in embedding latest technology trends associated with data governance, data management and data architecture
• Strong Experience in identifying data optimisation opportunities and linking value to data using stakeholder outcomes

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this position is TfNSW Grade 9 ($138,670.00 - $155,309.00) per annum plus superannuation and leave loading.??
