About the role

The Digital Information Governance team is part of Coles’ larger Tech, Engineering, and Data division. Coles’ Information Governance Technology team’s main objective is to deliver and review Information Governance compliance and ensure alignment with related policies and procedures.Working across a large complex data environment, and encompassing leading cloud technology, we deliver key data initiatives across the Coles business.

As the Digital Manager, you will report directly to the Head of Data, Engineering & Operations and be leading Coles’ large and complex enterprise data governance strategy to effectively manage data to improve business objectives and requirements.You will be the catalyst for modernising the current Information Governance practice by defining and executing strategic and tactical data and governance-based activities at scale including change initiatives across information development, governance plans, policies and standards.

What you'll be doing

The Digital Manager – Information Governance will drive the uplift initiative in growing the current business practices by building data governance forums, driving new project initiatives, and building a complex and large-scale enterprise program to manage the availability, usability, integrity, and security of data used across the business.

You will drive new technology initiatives and be the catalyst for diversity and change, supporting and consulting internal and external stakeholders and key leadership members across the Coles Data, Engineering Landscape.

You'll also:

  • Manage a high-performance team of functional and technical specialists.
  • Lead Coles enterprise data governance strategy to effectively manage data as an asset.
  • Provide data governance though leadership to support Coles’ Information Management Strategy and Coles’ aspiration in becoming an information driven organisation.
  • Become a key contributor in driving distributed data quality across the organisation.
  • Provide new and innovative strategies to the organisation to better manage data as an asset.
  • Establish data governance principles, frameworks, policies, standards for: Metadata, Master Data, Data Quality, Data Lifecycle Management.

Good things you'll need

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Digital Manager with experience in managing a scalable Information Governance Practice across a large and complex business environment. You will have previously built, managed, and supported a similar practice environment working with large data sets across a variety of Metadata Management tools and systems e.g. Alex Solutions, Alison, Collibra etc.

You'll also need:

  • Extensive knowledge in managing a large, scalable Information Governance practice.
  • Proven experience in creating, influencing, and rolling out data governance strategies and programs in a large complex organisation.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in all aspects of the Information Management (IM) life cycle, data management, analytics, governance, IM architecture, processes, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Experience in implementing a range or metadata management software and solutions that support the governance strategies and programs.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and managing sustainable platform governance practices.
  • Demonstrated the ability to motivate, mentor, and lead a data governance team.
