We are currently seeking a highly experienced Head of Credit Risk (Grade 5) to join the Risk and Compliance team. This is a permanent and full time position.

What you will be doing

The Head of Credit Risk will have responsibility for the credit risk management framework for the bank. This covers retail banking, the commercial book, impact finance lending and any other part of the business where credit risk arises from a deal or a transaction. The Head of Credit Risk will work with the Chief Risk Officer to provide risk leadership for the business growth strategy and help to set the boundaries that enable good credit risk taking decisions.  This is a second line risk management role.


The Head of Credit Risk will provide independent oversight and assurance to the Executive, Senior Management and The Board of the performance, risk profile and compliance with the credit risk framework, risk strategy and regulatory standards that apply to the bank in the credit space. This role covers credit risk oversight in its broadest sense for the bank, with some specific responsibilities pertaining to the Commercial and Impact Finance portfolios.


What you will bring

  • Significant Business Banking experience in an APRA regulated ADI, which should include experience in Credit Risk Management aligned to portfolio and regulatory (RWA’s and provisioning) risk together with transactional approvals
  • Significant experience collaborating at senior levels to manage credit risk
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • A highly professional and collaborative style with outstanding stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence and competence to appropriately challenge Lending practices and decisions
  • Tertiary qualifications in business management, accounting, law, risk or other relevant area
  • A record of technical training relevant to areas of responsibility, business banking or risk, such as FINSIA, RMA or other risk management organisations
  • Flexibility to travel to both regional and interstate locations
