The Opportunity

The Internal Assurance and Fraud Analyst will assist the Risk and Assurance Lead with reviewing and assessing the compliance of Abt Australia and Abt Britain’s governance operating model via internal audit engagements, fraud investigations and monitoring, reporting and implementing control and risk mitigation strategies.

This is an independent function of the business providing objective assurance and evaluation of the organisations’ internal control environment to the Abt Australia and Abt Britain Executive and its Audit Committee through the Risk and Assurance Lead.


Key Duties

The Internal Assurance and Fraud Analyst will be expected to fulfill the following duties (but not limited to):

  • Conduct internal audits as directed by the Risk and Assurance Lead and as set out in Abt Australia and Abt Britain’s annual audit plan developed with the Audit Committee and approved by the Abt Australia and Abt Britain Executive, in accordance with Australian auditing standards
  • Plan audit engagements, identify and assess findings against risk matrices, prepare and provide professional audit records and reports incorporating root cause analysis and applying the SMART logic to audit recommendations
  • In consultation with the Compliance Analyst and relevant accountable Executive, address any policy and procedure deficiencies, incorporate suggested amendments in final audit reports
  • Assist the Risk and Assurance Lead with communicating recommendations and strategies for compliance initiatives and improvement opportunities in Abt Australia or Abt Britain’s programs identified by audit reviews

Key Requirements

The preferred applicant will have the following:


  • Minimum 3 years’ internal audit experience
  • Exceptional written communication skills with a strong ability to articulate issues and complete detailed reports
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention-to-detail to identify risks/threats to the business
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders on all levels throughout the business (from local in-country staff to the Executive team) along with a level of cultural awareness
  • Ability to work concurrently on multiple complex tasks and respond rapidly to changing priorities
  • Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Ability to travel internationally


  • Bachelor of Accounting, Commerce, Finance or Business-related degree
  • Certified Internal Audit (CIA) and Diploma of Government Investigations
