We are looking for an amazing IT Network/Security Engineer to join our team.

The IT Network/Security Engineer is responsible for making sure that Nearmap employees have the infrastructure and ICT systems and support required to perform their duties. Reporting to the IT Manager they will assist in maintaining existing corporate systems and network infrastructure; as well as architecting and designing new systems as required by the business.

We provide easy, instant access to high-resolution aerial imagery, city-scale 3D content, AI datasets and integrated geospatial tools, with wide-scale coverage across the USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. What we are looking for

A typical day for you may look like this...

  • Accountability for availability and uptime of corporate systems and infrastructure.
  • Designing and implementing new IT systems to support business operations.
  • Maintaining all servers and systems that fall under infrastructure ITs control; including best practices and security controls.
  • Managing networking and firewall infrastructure.
  • Patching ICT systems.
  • Administering Active Directory.
  • Continually improving network and security.
  • Working with other teams to ensure global connectivity is maintained.
  • Ensuring network devices are logging to SIEM.
  • Assisting System admins with system support, upgrades and maintenance.
  • Providing mentorship to Junior members of the team.
  • Providing general support at 2nd and 3rd level.
  • Supporting all IT central infrastructure, network and systems.

For this particular role we are seeking someone with the following experience:

  • 7+ years IT and infrastructure experience.
  • 5+ years System Administration experience.
  • Solid background in infrastructure architecture and engineering.
  • OS experience across – Linux (Debian, Ubuntu) and Windows.
  • AWS infrastructure deployment and management.
  • Infrastructure as a code experience.
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP).
  • Networking and firewall experience.
  • Strong understanding of access control models and network security.
  • Familiarity with AWS networking services e.g. VPC, direct connect.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of the business.
  • Best practices
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
