We have a great opportunity for an experienced TMT, Privacy & Data Lawyer to join a talented and high-performing team, supporting the Westpac Group with expert advice on a wide range of technology, commercial, privacy and data-related matters.
Reviewing, drafting and leading negotiations on Westpac Group’s technology and commercial procurement contracts and transactions, in particular privacy and data security clauses
Providing advice, guidance and training in relation to Westpac Group’s compliance with Australian Privacy Law, GDPR and Consumer Data Right/Open Banking
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to support our legal and risk strategy, including in relation regulatory compliance matters related to privacy and data, such as Westpac Group’s compliance with changes in privacy and data laws and internal policy in a proactive manner

What do I need?
We are seeking Lawyers at either Mid-level (5+ years PQE) or Senior (12+ years PQE) who have the following skills & experience
Proven experience advising on GDPR and Australian privacy law issues
Proven experience advising and negotiating on complex technology procurement transactions, particularly on the customer-side (including technology outsourcing, infrastructure procurement, business process outsourcing, traditional software licence and support arrangements, cloud-based subscription arrangements)
Proactive drive and a positive attitude to growth and learning
Strong client management and time management skills and abilities
Experienced at reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial and technology contracts
Collaborative, team-oriented approach
Experience in successfully supporting regulatory change projects to completion desirable
Strong interest in privacy law and regulation, trends, government policy desirable
