About the role
The Credit Risk team works across the Mortgages, Credit Cards and Personal Loans portfolios, The team has accountability for key elements of the credit risk function including policy, risk analytics, credit risk strategies and credit risk oversight to enable the delivery of growth, business objectives and portfolio management in line with ME's Risk Appetite Statement.
Reporting to the Senior Manager- Portfolio Analytics & Reporting, this role is responsible for credit risk analytics, portfolio monitoring and credit loss provisioning for the Bank’s Secured and Unsecured lending products to meet customer numbers, financial targets and credit quality objectives.
Acting as a 2IC to the Senior Manager, your day will comprise of the following (but won’t be limited to):
Liaising with multiple stakeholders from various areas of the bank including Finance, Products, Operations and Investor Relations
Providing insights into the credit quality of all Retail portfolios
Forecasting credit quality and credit losses for the Retail portfolios
Optimising the Bank’s profitability through managing, developing and enhancing provisioning, forecasting and Portfolio Stress Testing models and methodologies
Ensuring Credit Risk reports and analyses via Credit and Executive committees are delivered with appropriate socialisation, quality and efficiency
Contributing to the coaching, people development and engagement of the Portfolio Analytics and Reporting team and the wider credit risk team
Leading engagement with senior stakeholders including presenting to Steering Committees where required
We are seeking someone who has a solid credit risk background with a sound understanding of the end-to-end credit life cycle.
You will be a strategic thinker and very hands on in your ability to use SAS/SQL to extract and utilise data effectively to provide valuable insights. You are equally comfortable presenting and working with senior stakeholders and understand the importance of using data and past experiences to solve business and customer problems. You pride yourself in being able to break down complex matters for all stakeholders to understand, regardless of their technical knowledge and expertise.
You will bring with you, well developed stakeholder management skills with the ability to consult and influence effectively across the organisation. With strong report writing skills, you’re just as comfortable presenting and making recommendations to senior leaders and committees, including executives and the board.
You are someone who enjoys and can work independently, thinks laterally in solving problems, demonstrates high attention to detail in their work, and loves ambiguity within an ever-changing environment.
