* $125,893 - $168,473 (plus superannuation)
* Fixed Term until 30 June 2022
* Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)

The position of Manager, Financial Assurance and Accounting forms a part of the Financial and Property Services Branch within the Corporate Services Group.
The Financial and Property Services branch is responsible for managing aspects of the Department's financial accounting and internal control operations, systems and property services in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, other relevant legislations and department policies, accounting standards and DTF requirements.
The Branch delivers innovation in financial management practices, processes and systems, and strategic and operational property services to the department's senior management and Ministers in discharging statutory obligations through the provision of expert policy and operational advice.
The Manager, Financial Assurance & Accounting is responsible for managing all aspects of the Department's internal control framework, tax compliance and financial policies and procedures. This role provides excellent accounting policy and tax advice and develops and implements strategies to continuously improve the portfolio's internal control mechanisms.
The key accountabilities of the role are:

* Lead and manage a team in a range of activities associated with the delivery of DJPR accounting policy, compliance and tax requirements, including;

* Development and maintenance of DJPR internal control framework and the full suite of financial policies and procedures in line with the Financial Management Act 1994, accounting standards, Standing Directions and DTF financial reporting guidance;
* Provision of expert accounting policy and tax advice across the portfolio;
* Manage DJPR reporting against the Financial Management Compliance Framework, actively managing relevant issues;
* Conduct analysis of controls underpinning DJPR internal control mechanisms according to an agreed annual program of work, benchmarking against best practice; and
* Manage DJPR GST, FBT and other tax obligations in accordance with legislation and agreed quality and timeliness targets.

* Demonstrate excellent financial expertise to routinely advise/explain complex accounting and tax policies, transactions, concepts and issues to senior management.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to continuously improve the portfolio's internal control frameworks, tax compliance and financial policies.
* Contribute to and support the preparation of DJPR's annual and monthly financial statements.
* Work effectively with senior management to increase their financial management capability.
* Contribute to projects designed to increase effectiveness and efficiency of the Finance Group.
