About the Role

  • The Research Governance and Ethics Officer will work collaboratively with the Manager, Research Ethics and Governance, the Ethics Officer and the Research Governance Officer/s to ensure that NBMLHD complies with legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures at National, State and LHD levels, in relation to the conduct of human research.
  • To provide high level support in the review of Research Governance and Ethics applications, utilizing the online submission system, Research Ethics and Governance Information System (REGIS) and   provide high level Secretariat support to the NBMLHD HREC and its Subcommittees, as required.

Selection Criteria to be addressed:

  1. Appropriate tertiary qualifications with relevant experience in human research or substantial experience in human research including reviewing human ethics and site applications.
  2. Sound understanding of the National Statement on Conduct of human research, OHMR policies and guidelines, Privacy and Good Clinical Practice relating to the ethical conduct of Human research and Research Governance applications.
  3. Flexibility and adaptability to meet competing priorities in the provision of all aspects of Ethics and Research Governance review and meeting the needs of a busy Research Office environment.
  4. Demonstrated experience and competence in the preparation of agendas, minutes, correspondence, discussion papers and reports.
  5. Assessing site applications and managing the process of site authorisation.
  6. Ensuring collection of appropriate fees for site authorisations and Ethics applications.
  7. Demonstrated effective time management skills with the ability to prioritise workloads to meet conflicting deadlines
  8. Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.
