About the Role

We currently have a position for a Risk Governance Advisor in our Integrated Portfolio and Treasury Risk Team.

The role supports the Senior Risk Governance Manager in implementing and maintaining a holistic risk landscape and management framework for the wholesale portfolios. This role will be responsible for the administration and management of regulatory and compliance activities within the wholesale business related to state and commonwealth environmental schemes, AML/CTF and AFSL conditions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of commonwealth and state voluntary and mandatory schemes for greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
  • Maintain Compliance Programs and obligation registers that define the management responsibilities across AGL to effectively comply with these schemes.
  • Manage the engagement of auditors for the state schemes and perform a secondary review of regulatory submissions before the reports are submitted.
  • Manage accreditations for AGL assets related to commonwealth and state greenhouse gas emissions reduction schemes.
  • Regular internal management compliance reporting
  • Assist in managing the relationship with an outsourced Compliance Management company to ensure AGL’s compliance obligations continue to be met in relation to AML/CTF and AGL’s AFSL.
  • Investigate and manage control breaches or failures.
  • Assist in the preparation of mandatory trainings for various front, middle and back office personnel related to compliance.
  • Perform Know Your Customer checks on new counterparties to ensure compliance with AML/CTF, our AFSL, and other relevant regulations, such as anti-bribery and corruption and trade sanctions.
  • Monitor AGL business unit for compliance with risk management policies and report progress to senior management.

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Exposure to the Australian energy markets and relevant regulatory and compliance experience
  • Strong ability to communicate information, consult and work with the team to achieve team goals.
  • Strong, proactive consultation and relationship building skills with stakeholders both internal and external to the Risk team and AGL.
  • Proactively drive compliance requirements within and with stakeholders outside the Risk team to ensure compliance with relevant Policies and Compliance Programs.
  • Ability to identify, diagnose and escalate issues on a timely basis.
  • Proactive management of own workload to ensure that deadlines are met, or potential issues are raised early.
  • Attention to detail while understanding the broader context, striving for excellence.
  • Experience in audit, compliance or risk management
  • Experience in utility or financial services markets
