Senior Analyst, Credit Risk Management

SMBC is a major international bank with a leading position in the Australian Corporate and Project Finance market.

Our Sydney Branch has enjoyed strong growth with corporate and institutional clients across multiple industry sectors and is now ranked amongst the leading foreign banks in Australia.    

In support of this growth, we now have a great opportunity for an experienced Senior Analyst to join our Credit Risk Management team. The position will provide a motivated individual an excellent opportunity to work in a middle office covering various sectors and products.

This position will be responsible for the following:

  • Reviewing legal documentation to ensure compliance with internally approved credit terms and conditions
  • Confirmation of Condition Precedent items for facility effectiveness
  • Setting up credit limits in internal systems
  • Managing collaterals
  • Controlling document collection
  • Monitoring financial covenants
  • Support the reporting and inspection requirements of the department

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance and Accounting or related business studies
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Credit Risk Management as a Credit Analyst or related position, ideally with a Bank or Financial Institution
  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements
  • Good understanding of corporate banking terminology and financial products
  • Sound experience of collating financial information for credit analysis
  • High level of numeracy and strong financial analysis skills
  • Good understanding of APLMA loan documentation
  • High level accuracy and attention to detail
  • Good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Effective time management and good organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret and follow procedures
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
