About the team

Our Operations & Governance (O&G) team is part of our wider BDO Consulting team. O&G provides services across all industries to ensure that appropriate solutions are in place for our client's to enable their strategic and operational objectives.

The O&G team enhances shareholder value, secures business wealth and allows for increased growth opportunities by assisting businesses in managing strategic, operational and technology risks. This includes providing advisory, technology risk remediation and assurance services, developing governance and technology risk management frameworks, facilitating solution workshops and advising on technology risk and mitigation strategies (including Data Privacy, Cyber risks, Business Continuity, EOI & RFT processes etc.).

Given the positioning of the O&G team in its central role as a connector to other services, there are many opportunities for the successful candidate to work with the broader Strategy & Transformation, Digital & Technology and People Advisory areas across Consulting. This provides an opportunity for the successful applicant to grow and develop with support and guidance provided by a number of different Consulting Partners, who operate in collaboration with strong values that has resulted in an exceptional team culture.

Current opportunity

As a Senior Consultant, you will work closely with Partners/Associate Directors/ Managers in providing a range of technology related advice and services for clients. This role offers a great variety of work, autonomy, client contact and direct Partner/Associate Director / Manager interaction and coaching.

Duties & Key Responsibilities:

• Delivering a variety of IT risk & assurance and business improvement / transformation projects
• Recommending technical & non-technical improvements to client IT systems, processes and controls
• Preparing proposals in response to client requests (including budgeting to assignment costs)
• Working with the Partner/Associate Director /Manager to undertake scheduling of work across the practice
• Supervising fieldwork and contributing to the development of junior staff in a mentoring capacity
• Maintaining relationships with clients & working with Partners / Associate Directors in creating future business opportunities

General Experience Required:

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in IT Audit and/or IT related risk & assurance or similar role
• Technology and Accounting or business related degree.
• In the process of obtaining certifications or qualifications relevant to the role
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Analytical and investigative skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, collaboratively and a small team environment.
• Australian driver’s licence and access to a car.

Technical Skills & Qualifications Desired:

• Exposure to Data Privacy, Cyber risk, SOC reporting, CPS234, and/or ISO27001 (desirable)
• Solid knowledge and experience in auditing IT general and IT application controls
• Exposure in providing assurance of Third-Party Outsourced operations (SOC 2, CPS234, ASAE 3402, GS007 etc.)
• Basic exposure to auditing or reviews of data centres, IT infrastructure, ICT Strategic Plans
• Basic experience in auditing Software as a Service (SaaS), and/or other Managed IT Services
• Basic experience with Enterprise Resource Management systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle etc.)
• Basic knowledge and exposure to Business Continuity Management / Business Resilience
• Basic experience in IT & business process mapping, risk and controls identification
• Basic knowledge of ITIL, COBIT 5 and other technology related control frameworks
• CISA or equivalent certifications
