Risk Consulting is a growing business that focuses on helping our clients understand, manage and oversee their risks, including conduct and regulatory change. Our Specialist team design and transform risk functions, create and build enterprise risk management frameworks, advise on Governance, risk and controls solutions and support businesses in identifying and managing strategic and operational risks.

Our KPMG Enterprise Risk Consulting practice works with clients across Australia in the mid-market to assist Boards and management to achieve optimal governance, risk and control environments that support organisations strategic and operational priorities. Our team delivers a range of services across all industry sectors in the areas of Internal Audit, Risk Consulting, Technology Risk and Cyber, Program Assurance, Controls Transformation and Corporate Governance.

Due to our fast paced and continued growth, we are currently looking to expand our team nationally. This is a key role in our growing team and you will have the ability to work in and drive growth in market segments or clients that interest you. Working in the Enterprise market gives you the opportunity to interact with senior stakeholders including the Board of Directors and Executive Management, to partner with them on their growth journeys. You will also have the opportunity to work with a number of profit for purpose entities, to help them achieve their strategy and vision.

Your Opportunity – Senior Consultant

As a Senior Consultant within the Enterprise Risk Consulting team you will be playing a lead role in the scoping, execution and delivery of a wide range of risk advisory projects. You’ll be consulting with clients on how best to establish Governance, Business Process Controls and assist them in measuring business performance through the appropriate channels.

You’ll be joining an intelligent team of diverse professionals and a highly collaborative environment where you will view risk management as an enabler for businesses to gain competitive advantage in their respective fields. This will typically involve design and implementation of risk management practices through a cost-effective and business-wide approach. This is how you will be contributing as a Senior Consultant.

  • Design: Reviewing risks with associated processes, controls, frameworks and functions including gap analysis, design, operation and outputs.
  • Execution and Reporting: Delivery of targeted programs of work to provide assurance over specific risks and controls management.
  • Assessment: Conducting independent assessments on an array of projects and clients, partnering with other KPMG teams as appropriate.
  • Coaching stakeholders and leaders on best practice risk management methodology and driving a culture of high performance and ethical business practices.
  • Leading junior team members on a day-to-day basis, mentoring and professional development.
  • Developing strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, identifying opportunities for future business.

Key Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications ideally having or working towards a CA/CPA/CIA equivalent post-tertiary qualification.
  • Experience working in a risk/internal audit/controls environment is ideal
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written, able to articulate examples of dealing with difficult stakeholders, problem solving, process improvements.
  • High level of organisation and ability to manage conflicting deadlines, priorities and wide variety of work engagements.
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships and network with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Excellent skills in MS PowerPoint and Excel are highly desirable
