The Team

CommSec Operational Risk is responsible for ensuring all business activities, transactions and processes are conducted in accordance with the CBA Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). We do this by providing advice, monitoring and oversight of business activities. In delivering these services our key aim is to support CommSec, BB and the Group to achieve its strategic goals including operating within the BB Risk Appetite.

What a day in your role will look like?

In this line 2 role, you will work closely with the Business (including Line 1 Risk Management) and other Risk functions (Compliance Risk, Market Risk, Credit Risk) which support the business. You will focus on providing advice and conduct assurance on all aspects of Operational Risk including the business's implementation of the ORMF, vendor management, risks associated with fraud, cyber security and technology risk, risk in change, risk governance, risk appetite, risk profiles and risk frameworks. You will also be expected to:

  • Contribute to the design, implementation and on-going improvement of Operational Risk Management Framework, policies, procedures and systems;
  • Partner with the business to undertake assurance, monitor and provide approval, where required, of business activities and change, including those involving formal Risk in Change assessment.
  • Provide guidance, review and oversight for supplier governance activities
  • Evaluate and advise on Operational Risk issues in relation to product/process initiatives and reviews to ensure optimal risk / reward decision making.

What will you need to succeed in this role?

A risk mindset is something that all Commbank employees will need to have. You will need to have strong experience within Operational Risk or alternative, comparable risk management function. It is also desirable for the right candidate to have knowledge or experience in the Stockbroking sector. We are also seeking a motivated individual with:

  • Strong teamwork focus with excellence in driving results and delivering customer satisfaction.
  • Experience in successfully communicating with and influencing your peers and senior management.
  • Strong technical skills & knowledge base in Operational Risk management related activities / functions
  • A commercial mind, able to balance Risk and business goals.
  • Experience in the areas of audit, project management, training, business investigations and analysis.
