Senior Project Officer (AO6) Community Resilience and Risk Mitigation
As a department our purpose is to help the community to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from the impact of fire and emergency events.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is the primary provider of fire, rescue and emergency management programs and services throughout Queensland. The department encompasses the Fire and Rescue Service, disaster management services, the Rural Fire Service and the State Emergency Service, and also supports other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.

Purpose of role
The Royal Commission Implementation team, within Community Resilience and Risk Mitigation, will lead implementation of the Queensland Government Response to the recommendations of the Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements. The team will work closely with stakeholders from across the Queensland Government to ensure Queensland delivers on its commitments to the community and to the Commonwealth, state and territory governments through the National Emergency Management Ministers Meeting.
Reporting to the Executive Manager, you will be a key member of a professional and dedicated team which will support agencies across the Queensland Government to ensure ongoing delivery of activities to implement the Royal Commission's recommendations. You will assist in the delivery of key project deliverables, including progress reporting on whole-of-government implementation of the Royal Commission's recommendations and providing secretariat services and assistance to working groups and committees to meet organisational objectives.
Highly desirable requirements * Experience in managing governance committees and providing secretariat functions in a complex environment. * Knowledge and experience in project management methodologies. * Knowledge of disaster management and fire and emergency services.
Your key accountabilities
Your part in the ongoing success of our department, in supporting frontline services will see you responsible for a variety of work, including, but not limited to: * Assist with the implementation of strategies and plans, in line with QFES project management methodologies to support delivery of the Queensland Government Response to the Royal Commission. * Contribute to the development, reporting and implementation of the project and associated tasks to ensure quality project outcomes are delivered. * Provide secretariat support to whole-of-government and internal working groups and meetings, by preparing agendas, recording and circulation of minutes, and follow up on actions and outcomes. * Undertake research and analysis, and interpret and solve problems to support project implementation and identify opportunities for improvements in processes and service delivery. * Liaise and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project activities and promote positive outcomes to ensure business objectives are achieved. * Contribute to continual improvement strategies, including identification of possible efficiencies and collaboration on the development of innovative solutions to ensure tasks are delivered on time. * Assist in the preparation and review of reports, submissions, and other correspondence and communication on a range of confidential issues, in accordance with departmental requirements.
