Our client is the Australian arm of a global operation spanning across multiple offices with close to 10 million customers worldwide. Its Australian operation has grown to be an industry leader particularly with respect to financial and risk management focussed products. Many of the brands associated with our client are household names and due to growth in our client's Brisbane office they are seeking to add a Senior Finance / Regulatory Corporate Lawyer to join their innovative and growing organisation on a permanent basis.

This role will require you to provide unbiased, effective legal advice that protects and promotes the ongoing sustainable growth and integrity of our client's business. You will also work effectively and collegiately within the Legal team and the wider Compliance, Regulatory and Risk teams.

Your responsibilities include the requirement to:

  • Advise stakeholders across the business on all commercial and corporate practice areas including: Corporations Law, Privacy Laws, Intellectual Property, Confidentiality, Mergers & Acquisitions, Employment law, Advertising law and Financial Services laws;
  • Advise, review and draft contracts for the procurement of any goods/services ranging from standard agreements to complex material for outsourcing arrangements with multiple parties;
  • Advise, review and draft complex multiparty arrangements including contracts for the sale of general insurance products via white label/partner arrangements;
  • Provide strategic, solutions focused, commercial advice to all areas of the business and assist in maintaining the long-term sustainability, integrity and excellent reputation of the business.

To be eligible for this role you will require the following:

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications within law and possession of a practising certificate in the Supreme Court of QLD or eligibility for immediate admission;
  • At least 5 yrs+ prior experience as a banking and finance or insurance lawyer in either an insurance, financial services company or law firm;
  • Experience with large complex multiparty contracts/outsourcing/white-label and other distribution arrangements, procurement and privacy law;
  • A solid understanding of regulation impacting insurance, including the new legislation arising from the Financial Services Royal Commission;
  • Knowledge of the licensing regimes, regulatory guides, and standards under the regulatory remit of Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and Australian Prudential Regulation Authority (APRA);
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
