Our Opportunity

We are on the lookout for our next team member to join Vanguard’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team as a Risk Specialist, initially focused on frameworks, governance and reporting. In addition, this role has potential to support management with business-aligned risk responsibilities.

Joining an experienced team of risk professionals, in this role you will support the ERM function and the broader business in building a strong risk aware environment and culture to facilitate risk-based decision making as VIA continues to grow and evolve.

What you will do

  • Support business-aligned members of the ERM team in appropriately applying risk frameworks to meet regulatory obligations, governance and monitoring requirements, and reporting requirements

  • Lead the implementation of Vanguard Investment Australia and Vanguard Super Pty Ltd.’s risk culture framework to allow for ongoing measurement and monitoring

  • Coordinate and deliver consistent and timely risk reporting across management and Board governance forums, at both local and global levels

  • Develop and support the roll-out of risk training across Vanguard Investment Australia and Vanguard Super Pty. Ltd

  • Adapt global risk policies and guidance to enable Vanguard Investment Australia and Vanguard Super Pty. Ltd. to meet local APRA and ASIC regulatory obligations

  • Provide a central point of oversight, to ensure that Australia-specific risk policies are consistently applied where they are applicable

This role also has potential to support the implementation of Vanguard Investment Australia and Vanguard Super Pty. Ltd’s risk management framework by the business, through:

  • Advising the business on how to identify, measure and manage existing and emerging risks, including through projects and other business change initiatives;

  • Independent review and challenge of the risk-based decision-making activities of the business, including regular risk and control assessments, and issue and event identification, management, and resolution; and

  • Assist management in monitoring and reporting the effectiveness of business risk practices, including escalating risks outside appetite as required.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in financial services, risk frameworks, its application, and risk reporting aligned to APRA and ASIC regulations

  • A natural collaborator with strong organisation and communication skills

  • Proven ability to work quickly and independently with an outcome-oriented mindset, with attention to detail and sensitivity to deadlines

Specialisations that will make an impact

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field. Post graduate / Professional certifications or advanced degree in a related field would be well reagrded

  • Understanding and experience in the financial services industry and relevant regulatory requirements
