The Software Developer will be accountable under broad direction to interpret specifications and technical designs to build, maintain and modify code or adaptation data for software applications, construct technical specifications from a business functional model, write and execute tests, and write and maintain technical documentation.
Skills and Knowledge:
Demonstrated competence with Python and/or similar experience with other scripting languages is essential.
Demonstrated competence in more than one programming language, and the ability to quickly learn and apply a new programming language when required is essential.
Experienced in developing and deploying software within a Linux / UNIX environment is essential.
Proven ability to work in a team environment and contribute ideas on medium-to-large software package(s) is essential. Experience working within an agile team is desirable.
Design, build, integrate, deliver and document software capability that meets business requirements.
Support, maintain and enhance existing software capability ensuring application availability.
Ensure quality and security of software capability through appropriate testing and review.
Assist in the continuous improvement process by developing and enhancing procedures.
Escalate issues and seek advice from team leader or project manager in a timely manner.
Location and Contract Term: The role is based in Canberra. Up to 24 months from the commencement date SFIA security level required: The Specified Person will be expected to demonstrate attributes of SFIA Level of Responsibility 5. Security Requirements: Current Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) security clearance is strongly preferred, however candidates who have held a TSPV in the previous 12-month period (which has since been downgraded) may be considered.
